Carney Badley Spellman Achieves Favorable Settlement for Orion in $454M Port Project Dispute

Posted:

The Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA) reached a $12 million settlement with Orion Marine Contractors, ending a legal dispute over the $454 million renovation of Terminal 5 in West Seattle. NWSA commissioners unanimously approved the resolution, closing a conflict focused on equipment specifications and project delays, with no admission of liability from either party. Carney Badley Spellman represented Orion, with attorneys John Dippold and Eric Hanson leading the legal team responsible for securing the settlement. Ballard Spahr, formerly Lane Powell, represented the NWSA. Now operational, Terminal 5 is expected to generate $26 million in revenue for the alliance in 2025.
