Eric leads the firm’s Subrogation and Recovery Group and is a member of Carney Badley Spellman’s Construction Litigation Group. A seasoned civil litigator with more than 25 years of experience, his practice centers on construction litigation and catastrophic property losses, including wildfires, high-rise condominium losses, product defects, and complex commercial disputes. He has secured seven-figure recoveries against major manufacturers and public and private utilities, and has achieved significant construction settlements on behalf of project owners.

With experience spanning hundreds of matters from immediate post-loss investigation through trial, he brings both technical command and practical judgment to each stage of the process. A deep understanding of the industries his clients operate in allows him to evaluate exposure quickly, develop disciplined strategies, and pursue efficient, results-oriented solutions. In addition to large property loss claims, his construction practice includes disputes involving pay applications, lien claims, change orders, public bidding issues, delay claims, construction defects, and design errors.

He represents clients throughout the western United States, including Washington, Oregon, Hawaii, Alaska, and Idaho, and is licensed in Washington, Oregon, and Alaska. He is a member of the Washington, Oregon, and Alaska Bar Associations.

Eric earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of San Francisco and his law degree, with honors, from Seattle University School of Law in 1996. He previously clerked for Justice Charles Johnson at the Washington State Supreme Court.

Whether addressing a catastrophic property loss or a complex construction dispute, his approach is strategic, steady, and focused on achieving favorable outcomes.
