Carney Welcomes Ashley Burman to the Firm’s Litigation Group

Posted:

Carney is pleased to welcome Ashley Burman to the firm as a member of its Litigation Group. Ashley brings significant experience in complex litigation, appeals, and strategic counseling, with a strong track record of helping clients navigate high-stakes legal issues in state and federal courts.

Ashley focuses her practice on appeals, dispositive motions, and critical legal strategy at every stage of litigation. Known for her incisive legal writing and oral advocacy skills, Ashley has represented clients in constitutional and public-policy litigation, major commercial and contract disputes, and complex securities and antitrust class actions.

Prior to joining Carney, Ashley served as a law clerk to the Honorable Ryan D. Nelson on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She is a graduate of The University of Chicago Law School, where she was awarded the Thomas R. Mulroy Prize for excellence in oral and appellate advocacy.

Ashley partners closely with trial counsel to identify and preserve key legal issues, develop persuasive briefing strategies, and prepare for appeal — allowing trial teams to focus on fact development and case presentation. She is deeply committed to understanding each client’s goals and crafting legal arguments that help achieve successful outcomes.

Her clients have included Fortune 500 companies, municipalities, entrepreneurs, investors, and individuals, reflecting the breadth of her practice and the trust she has earned across a wide range of industries.

Outside of her legal work, Ashley enjoys spending time with her dog, Freya, and is currently reading her way through The Guardian’s “Top 100 Books of All Time.”

Please join us in welcoming Ashley to Carney.
